We are looking for a full-time, permanent General Counsel (all genders) to start as soon as possible. We live remote-first, but you can choose whether you want to work hybrid or completely on-site due to your proximity to one of our locations.


As our General Counsel, you will be responsible for the professional and disciplinary management of a team of three and will be the first point of contact for all legal issues within the Contabo Group - both nationally and internationally. In your role, you will support the management and all specialist departments with practical, commercially minded legal advice, particularly in contract law, corporate law and data protection.

You will review and negotiate complex contracts, further develop our general terms and conditions and ensure that our international companies are in an optimal legal position. Together with our data protection officer, you will ensure GDPR compliance at all locations. You see yourself not only as a “legal gatekeeper”, but also as a sparring partner for the C-level - with the aim of finding solutions together that are commercially viable and legally sound.

In addition to your advisory role, you will also be responsible for corporate housekeeping for our international companies, drive forward your own legal projects and be the central point of contact for external law firms, authorities and notary's offices.

From day one, you will take over the management of the legal team and actively shape the strategic development of the legal department. You will not only contribute your professional expertise, but also position yourself as a sparring partner for the C-level. With your instinct for legal opportunities and risks, you create the basis for sustainable, commercially viable decisions - and thus make a significant contribution to the growth of the Contabo Group.

What convinces us

• with a completed second state examination (fully qualified lawyer: in)
• Several years of professional experience in the legal field (private sector or law firm)
• Several years of management experience, ideally in an international environment
• Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
• Sound knowledge of contract law, corporate law and data protection law (GDPR)
• Strong entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to solve complex legal issues pragmatically
• Fluent in written and spoken German and English
• Confident handling of Microsoft Office
• Industry experience in the tech or digital sector (desirable)
